July 2025 is a big month for Canadians who receive government benefits. Many payments are increasing, and a new benefit is starting this month too. If you qualify, you could get more money in your account this July.
These payments are updated every year to match inflation. This year, most benefits are going up by 2.7%. Payments are now based on your 2024 tax return, so your amount may change.
There are eight major government benefits being paid this month, including one brand-new benefit for people with disabilities. Let’s take a closer look.
GST/HST Credit
The GST/HST Credit is a tax-free payment given every three months. It helps lower-income Canadians handle the extra cost of goods and services. You don’t need to apply. If you file your taxes, the CRA checks if you qualify.
You must be at least 19 or live with a spouse, partner, or child to get it. You must also live in Canada for tax purposes.
How much you can get (July 2025):
Category | Amount (Quarterly) |
---|---|
Single | Up to $133.25 |
Couple | Up to $174.50 |
Per child under 19 | Up to $46 |
The income limit now starts at $45,521.
